Christmas Night

Mother, Margaret and I were sitting in Margaret's kitchen chatting when the phone rang. It was Leah calling from her active duty in Maryland. She called to wish us a Merry Christmas and to see what we had gotten. I had just opened the birthday gift from mother. A perfume set by Elizabeth Arden, Red Door. Leah had received the same gift for her birthday. Mother left the price tags on both gifts and we began discussing some of the other gifts our sibs had received. At one point, Leah felt she had been short-changed and said as much to mother: "Mother, you owe me!" Mother replied, "you owe me for nine months rent" to which I replied: "yeah, womb and board". Mother got a huge kick out of my pun and said I had created a classic.

I think that's great! Hope Leah was just kidding--doesn't feel like quite the right attitude re presents to be comparing monetary value of each of them. Maybe that's part of having lots of siblings and all that sibling rivalry.

hehe..."womb and board"...I get it!

Of course, I was just kidding........ sort of. See what you missed by being an only child? The best part is that the Red Door gift set is simply fabulous.

Yeah, now you're just trying to make up for it--I bet you also sent Rita a nasty msg berating her for posting this comment in her blog!

BTW, Auntie Leah, your Xmas gift is in Houston--I figured someone there would see you sooner than I would.

Actually, Leah sent me no such note. This is what we do. I have to say that I saw one of the items included in the Red Door ensemble at Sams and it was over $40. I think our mother got a really good deal on those gift sets. I love sibling rivalry. It is fun...Eliz, do you want to be a honorary sib and get in the mix?

Have been trying to create suitable retort comments - I've simply come up empty. Getting older must have a mellowing effect because I sure feel mellow.

Elizabeth, I have something for you that you and yours will really appreciate NEXT year. As soon as a proper box appears, it will be on its way to you.

I smell so gooooooooooooood!
