Lovely Weekend

I just got back from Austin. This is where I spent Easter weekend. I arrived at Jennifer and Stepan's house at about 11am on Saturday. I played a little April Fools joke on them. I called from outside their house and told them I was on the side of the road in Georgetown with a flat tire. Stepan answered the phone and said he would rush to my aid...yeah right! So, I got out of my car and waited...and waited...and waited. I really had to go pee, so I finally opened the front door to find, Stepan sitting in his Archie Bunker style easy chair reading the newspaper. I was a bit miffed as I yelled April Fool. It would have been so much better if I could have told them this as they were rushing out to their car to my aid. They were pretty happy about not having to drive to Georgetown. We were all very hungry so we rushed off to Cafe Java for a bite of lunch.

Border's

After lunch we went to Border's. Stepan wanted to buy a Ben & Jerry's ice cream recipe book. We also visited a store called Originals. They had a lot of very pretty, but very pricey gift items.

Whole Foods Market

We went to WFM to buy the ingredients for the ice cream that Step was going to make for our Easter Sunday picnic. While we were there we saw the loveliest family. The oldest of the five children was a boy aged 6. The whole family was very sweet.

Mall

After the Border's and WFM trip, we took Step back home and Jen and I went to the mall. Jen had to get her contact lenses checked so she could obtain a prescription for more. We shopped for a bit and then went home.

Trading Spaces

I had never watched this show. Jen, Step and I watched two complete episodes. It was very impressive what these people were able to do with very ugly beginnings and a $1000 budget. The shows we watched were Trading Spaces goes Hollywood. Andy Dick got a new kitchen and his neighbor got a new study.

Walk to Mass

Jen talked us into walking to church on Sunday morning. Originally, we were going to go to 8AM Mass. Stepan was making bread and that put it right in the middle of some of the preparations for the bread so we delayed Mass to 11:30. Jen checked mapquest and found the walk was going to be .62miles. In a car it would have taken 1 minute. On foot it took us about 15 minutes. It was a beautiful day and a nice walk.

Picnic in the Park

After Mass, we hurried around loading up the ice cream and loaves of bread and after Elizabeth and Jonathan got there we walked across the street to the park and Easter Sunday picnic with a whole bunch of dog-walking friends of J & S. Stepan made the best chocolate ice cream ever. Everyone at the picnic said so.

Long Drive Home

The drive home was soooooooo long. I think just about everyone in Austin that was traveling north to the metroplex, chose the exact moment to begin their journey as I did. It was not too bad til we got to Waco. From there to the Fort Worth cut-off to I35W it was bumper to bumper 10-15 MPH driving. I should have been home by 9 and did not get home til 10. I was listening to a pretty interesting book on tape...So, the time didn't not seem so bad.

RDA

I know this is a very abridged version of my weekend. The participants mentioned in this entry are more than welcome to add to this story via the comments option. I am tired and I have to work tomorrow.

I truly think Stepan & Jenny threw the April Fool's joke back into your court. Hmm...I wonder if that's why you waited so long for them to come out especially when they never did! Fess up S & J...Ya'll knew Rita (aka M, MIN) was outside your door?
Mmmm, I bet that imitation Ben & Jerry's ice cream was delicious. Maybe Step or Jen will go into more detail when they describe their Easter weekend. Hint, hint

While I was reading my paper, Jfer was rounding up the dogs to go to the back yard so that we could leave and rescue Rita. Besides, I figured someone would stop and losen her bolts (that was what she said prevented from changing her tire).

And the dogs weren't budging since we had given them chewez right before the phone rang.
