This weekend I went to Wichita Falls to see mom. I also went because Patrick was going to be there. Before I departed on Friday, I tried to call my friend, Jeff, who is giving us some deer meat sausage. When I picked up the phone in the kitchen, I accidentally hit one of the feature buttons. I was going to hang up and try for dial tone again, but I listened and I had dial tone. So, I dialed Jeff and encountered his voice mail. I left a message for him and then made my departure. I had a lovely time in Wichita Falls. Mother made marinated chicken with roasted potatoes and dinner rolls. I contributed green beans and we (Matthew, Mother, Patrick and I) shared a couple of bottles of wine. After dinner we played euchre. Pat had never played and via the drawing of cards he and I were matched as partners. Pat is a quick study and picked up the game easily. However, when comparable euchre playing abilities are matched it is the cards who decides the victor. Pat and I won the first match, Mom and Matthew won the 2nd and took the rubber. Pat also brought Mother a blood pressure machine. Mom has had her bp taken more in this past weekend than she has in her entire life. Pat also brought her a MP3 player to be used to listen to audio books downloaded from a subscription service from the web. Mother loves books that are factual. If anyone knows of a really good one please advise her it's title. On Saturday, Patrick left at around 9:30AM in the rain and fog for a golf date with an old high school buddy. I lazed around the house enjoying the company of Mother and Matthew. I finally left Wichita Falls at around noon. After passing Henrietta, I decided to give Jerry a call and let him know that I was heading his way. I accessed the voice activated dialing on my phone and in as distinct a voice as I could muster said "home" into the mouth piece. I was rewarded with a ringing and waited for Jerry to answer. Instead, I get the very friendly voice of Jeff advising me I had reached his voice mail. I looked at my cell phone and the screen indicated I had dialed my home. I hung up and manually entered the digits for my home. I again received Jeff's voice mail. I remembered my call to him on friday and realized that I had inadvertantly forwarded all the calls coming to my number to him. Uh OH! Luckily, I subscribe to a service from SWB called remote access to call forwarding. I did not have the access number and had to call SWB and spend about 15 minutes on the phone so that I could obtain that number. I called the access number canceled the call forwarding and then dialed Jerry to let him know I was on my way. After I finished with Jerry I decided to call Jeff and let him know that he may have messages for me. I dialed his number and waited for his call notes greeting to begin. Instead I heard Jeff saying "hello". We chatted for awhile. I told him of my folly. He said he got one message where it sounded like somone had left the receiver open and didn't realize it. He remembered someone saying something like "being a virgin again".
That is an oops! Good thing nothing really personal came through--or someone who really needed to get in touch with you.
Sounds like you guys had a nice time in WF together. Daddy said he enjoyed the euchre (he'd said that before I read this entry).
So does Grama know how to work the bp machine herself, or does someone else always have to take her bp? My guess is you'll say that someone else will have to do it b/c she won't be able to read the gauge . . .
