I arrived in Houston yesterday around 4pm. I was suppose to go to Margaret's house, but when I called there was no one home. A call to her cell phone reached her and she was out shopping. Welcome to Houston! Anyway she suggested I go to Felicia's. So to Felicia's I went. Felicia is always so welcoming. I got there and one of the first things she said to me is; "Do you want a Stoley Doley?" Not knowing what one was I said; "Sure." Turns out they are pineapple vodka martinis, and they are delicious. It seems you put fresh pineapple in a jug and then add Stoley's Vodka. It is no wonder that most of last night is a huge blur. So, going to Felicia's turned out to be a fun and wonderful thing to do.
Posted by Rita at December 23, 2004 03:32 PMI hate to do this, but it's obvious where the name "Stoley Doley" comes from. Anyone know?
I suspect "Stoley" is from Stolichnaya, the vodka brand, and "Doley" is from Dole, the big pineapple people in Hawaii.
I couldn't find it nor "Stolly Dolly" nor "Stolly Doley" on google, however.

Posted by: Felicia at January 12, 2005 05:22 PMHow long should you marinate the pineapple in the vodka?
