I started to write about my high school reunion. I saved it in an email. I never went back to update or finish, and to be honest I have not read it since I wrote it.
Ok, I just read it and here it is: My 40th year weekend...I woke up on Friday to keep an appointment at the beauty salon. I had
a plan...get some grey covered and a fresh haircut. I went to the counter and the pedicurist
greeted me. I forgot I had also scheduled a pedicure. I told her I had forgotten the pedicure
and she offered me an out. She really gave me a great pedicure before the cruise. It was a
wonderful experience. I decided to get the pedicure. And because of that
I wore open-toed shoes all weekend long. Burt cut my hair, then a very talented
colorist painted the grey away. I was there for three hours. I spoke with Kathleen during my
time there. They, Margaret and Kathleen, were just leaving Houston. I had promised to be
packed and ready to jump in the car when they pulled into my drive.
I got home at about 1PM. Kevin was there and I already knew I had to go to Home Depot to
purchase more materials for the work Kevin was doing on my house. I got home from that outing
at about 2:30. I had not packed anything and I needed a shower. I had made no decision about "what to
wear". I went to the closet and pulled out a top that was a really good deal in 1999. It was a
sparkly little number that I got at 65% off retail. It still had the tags on it. I chose it and tried on
several pair of jeans and had my outfit. My new pedicure dictated that I wear sandals. I added a
pair and appropiately colored undies and felt a little bit better about my time commitment.
Back to today...which I realize is actually tomorrow...Friday, November 21 is nine minutes old. I had so much fun at the reunion. Kathleen was the perfect date. Then when Margaret joined us, we were unstoppable on the dance floor. Kathleen and I even accompanied the band as they sang "Mustang Sally". While on stage I wondered if I was doing such a great job at hitting the cow bell that the band might invite me to join them and I could finally retire. I had a wonderful time that weekend with my sisters.
Kevin finished the remodeling project. I love his work. The patio and outside of the house looks wonderful. I replaced the old, decrepit sliding patio door with new french doors and a ceiling to floor window. All the water damaged wood inside and out has been replaced. The exterior is painted Winthrop Peach. The den and kitchen eating nook is a salmon color (I can't quite remember the bizarre color name.)
Benny's birthday party that Meredith, Jennifer, Danny, Stepan and Joanna hosted at my house was a huge success. I have already linked to the pictures.
Lastly, my friend Kriss died. She succumbed to complications resulting from Chronic Kidney Disease. She was a wonderful person, who never complained about her lot in life. We all, could only hope, to achieve her poise. She was a wonderful person. I miss her.
