Vacation

It seems that when I went on vacation from work, I also went on vacation from blogging. As I prepare to go to work I decided it was time to make an entry:

I made TG dinner for Mother, Matthew, Stepan, Jennifer, Daniel, Joanna and me. We had a wonderful time and everyone seemed to enjoy the meal. The turkey was the best ever. Meredith did not stuff her turkey because someone told her it would dry it out. She wanted a moist turkey. Well, I am here to tell you that I stuffed my turkey and it was delicious. I also had canned jellied cranberry sauce and fresh made cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, green beans, and homemade gravy. Mother made a French Pecan Pie and I made 2 Pumpin Pies. We complimented our meal with wine and after dinner Joanna, Jennifer and I shared a bottle of champagne. Joanna is preparing for test taking working toward her PhD in public policy. It is for that reason that she did not go home to San Antonio for TG. The only sour note for the entire day was the resulting score of the Dallas/Miami football game. Blah! Blah! Blah!

On friday, Jennifer and I went shopping. We had fun doing that, but our time was limited because we went to see a movie of Jennifer's choosing. Stepan wrote about it and I commented on what he wrote so double click on movie and check it out.

Leah turned me onto selling books, movies, and CD's on half.com. I added several items to my inventory. When I logged into my account today I had made a sale. I prepared the item for shipment, logged back into the site and found I had made a 2nd sale. It is a great way to unload books, cds, dvds that you will never watch again. I highly encourage anyone interested in doing something useful with those items they will never read, listen or watch to do the same. So far I have sold 6 items and made avout $100.

I made banana nut bread for the first time today. I am tired of throwing away bananas. So, I caught sight of the aging bananas and decided to see how hard it was to make something useful out of them. It was very easy. It was really nice that I had all the necessary ingredients on hand. Also, the house smelled wonderful while it was baking. And I had a small slice and it is very tasty.

I have an early day tomorrow. It is back to work for me.

Comments!

I have just spent the better part of 30 minutes reading comments on the different blogs in the Karlhub. You can learn alot more by reading the comments. For example, in Theresa's entry, "His First Accident" a comment made by Leah indicated that she (Theresa) had lost weight. Hey! I read that entry, there was no mention about weight loss in that entry. I think that Theresa needs to post a new entry entitled, "I've lost some weight". And another thing! I am writing this post and I am uncertain about the spelling of the word weight. The spelling rule is i before e except after c. There are just too many exceptions to that rule, I think it should be thrown out of the book. Gotto go...when I went back into the karlhub a moment ago to get the link to Theresa's blog entry, I saw that Jen had posted a bunch of stuff to her journal. I need to make some comments.

Authors note: comments are so underrated, I love getting them, I hate making them and I rarely spend 30 minutes or so reading them.

Fish Story

Yesterday on the ride home from Wichita Falls, Jeff asked me when was the last time I went fishing. I could not remember, but I do remember a fishing story from my youth. It was a hot summer day and Susan Hood, Kathleen and I went fishing at the duck pond. The duck pond pretty much only had gold fish. We made a home-made fishing pole with some of the reeds that grew around the pond (I think). We caught our fish and brought it back to our house and found a secluded place in the side yard and proceeded to cook it. We were having a mighty fine time when mother came out to see what we were doing. She was none too happy with us. She sent Susan home and Kathleen and I got into trouble. I felt it was very unfair that Kathleen and I got punished and Susan did not. So, I got into mother's pre-postaged post cards and wrote the event to Susan's mom, Betty. A few days later I was at Susan's house playing and Betty came home. Susan was not supposed to have guests so she had me hide in Kelly's (Susan's sister) closet. Kelly's bedroom was just off her parent's bedroom. So, I am hiding in the closet and Betty starts making phone calls in her bedroom. I do not remember her first call, but call number two was to my mother. I got to hear my entire post card being read by Betty to my mother while I hid in Kelly's closet. Susan never reappeared to rescue me, so at about call number 4 I poised myself, with head held high and calmly walked out of Kelly's bedroom, through Betty and Frank's bedroom and went home. Mother never mentioned the call to me. Jeff said it was one of the best fish stories he ever heard.

It's Not There

Here is a website that I googled to try to find an answer to a question that I had posed to Danny. I interrupted his game of EverQuest to ask him this question. I keep getting emails from friends and strangers that require a download. When I complete the download the file name that comes up is something like: neomail.pl. When I was talking to Danny, he said that this is something the mail server is doing and requested I forward the mail to him. He had never heard of this particular extention. So I forwarded the email and as an afterthought BCC'd my other email address that I have with SBC dsl. The email did not show up as a download. The text of the email was there for me to read. I sent Danny a follow up email telling him of my success. Then I went to google to get a definition for the extention, pl. At this site I found pages and pages of definitions, save the one that I was wanting. Also, I want Stepan to know that he does not get all my stupid computer questions. I am an equal opportunity stupid computer question asker. I hope you have enjoyed your Saturday morning, Step.

been awhile

It has been awhile since I have posted anything. Jerry and I carved pumkins for Halloween. I did one, Jerry did two. I went to the Hobby Lobby and bought a couple of carving kits. The one I carved was entitled, "Unwelcome Guest." Jerry did one freelance which I called "Snaggle-tooth" and a patterned one that was a skull with a gash in it. We had several trick or treaters. We were even rewarded with praise from the parents of some of the little ones. They said our pumkins were the best ones they had seen...This past week has been spent driving back and forth to Wichita Falls to do some work in one of our Central Offices there. We drive about 6 hours round trip to do 4 hours of work. It is very crazy. The bonus is that I have gotten to eat dinner with mother a couple of times. She tells a story when she was young and at an age to harrass her older sister, Sarah. The rule was that any gentlemen callers had to be out of the house by 11PM. On occasions that Sarah would be entertaining her future husband and the hour passed 11PM, Bobby and Mother would get a pair of their dad's shoes, put them on and stomp up the porch steps. This would cause the would be caller into making a hasty departure. Also, her oldest sister, Aunt Sister had two different boyfriends that she dated. One was Jimmy, whom she later married, and John. Sister and her date would be in the parlor behind closed doors and mom would yell through the closed door, "Who are you with tonight, Jimmy or John?" Mom was quite the imp in her younger days. John married someone else and mother took great pride in telling me that he named one of his daughters Kitty Lou...I am working tonight from about 11PM til probably 4AM. There is a switch cut in the central office where I worked before I joined my current crew. I should be napping right now. Oh well. I have to leave here in 2 hours. I think I will try to catch a few Zs.
