Today is the last day that J W Parker, Jeffrey Barrett, Greg Davidson, Debbie Edwards and Rudy Cedillo will work on the same crew as I. The SBC bean counters have decided that we as a viable crew were expendable. This really is disappointing. We put out a lot of fires. We also corrected many vendor's installation errors. Now, the crew numbers 5 technicians. It is a sad day for me indeed. I will miss working with these guys on a day to day basis. However, friendships have been formed. I hope we stay in touch. I have managed to continue emailing another wonderful friend, Van Ellis. He retired a while back. I miss him a lot. Soon, I will be posting a new album on my webshots and I will include pictures of all these people.
On a happier note, I am so looking forward to receiving that very important call from Jennifer and Stepan. Yesterday, I had left for work and was half-way there when I realized I forgot my cell phone. I picked up my company truck and drove by the house so I could get it. Under normal conditions, I would have chocked this up as a minor inconveniece and gone on to Dallas without the phone. How did we ever stay in touch before cell phones?
Today is Mom's birthday. I called her today and wished her happy birthday. My first attempt failed due to a busy signal. When I tried the second time I was rewarded with ring, ring, then Mom saying "hello". I learned that Kathleen was calling during my first attempt. Mom said that she talked to her during her entire morning commute. Kathleen has vowed to never call me or Margaret again while she is in her car. Margaret and I were poking fun at her and she made this declaration. I know of at least one exception to her "never". At any rate, I feel so very blessed to be able to call and wish Mom greetings on this, the 89th anniversary of her birth.
