Stoley Doley's

I arrived in Houston yesterday around 4pm. I was suppose to go to Margaret's house, but when I called there was no one home. A call to her cell phone reached her and she was out shopping. Welcome to Houston! Anyway she suggested I go to Felicia's. So to Felicia's I went. Felicia is always so welcoming. I got there and one of the first things she said to me is; "Do you want a Stoley Doley?" Not knowing what one was I said; "Sure." Turns out they are pineapple vodka martinis, and they are delicious. It seems you put fresh pineapple in a jug and then add Stoley's Vodka. It is no wonder that most of last night is a huge blur. So, going to Felicia's turned out to be a fun and wonderful thing to do.

The Curling Bottom Lip

Today I was singing Silent Night to Magda. She was in a good mood; smiling and cooing and aah-gooing. Her bottom lip started to curl, so I stopped. Then I was not sure if I had seen what I thought I saw, so I continued the song. A few moments later, her lip curled again. She is so cute when her bottom lip curls. I had never seen her do this. I called Jennifer in to see her and continued singing one final time. She is so much fun. We talked and played while Meredith slept and Jennifer showered.

I am leaving to go to Houston today. I am not sure where I am going in Houston, but I will let my car show me the way. Heh! kinda like the horse in Jingle Bells! I bet Magda will like it more when I sing Jingle Bells to her.

HB M&C

I would like to take this opportunity to wish Matthew and Courtney a very Happy Birthday. I understand that this is the first of many that you did not spend this special day with your mom or each other. I know that all were in each of your thoughts.

Joy

I have been very remiss in my postings. It has been said that since I now have a new grandchild, that I should be posting stories about her. I have found that I talk about her so much to anyone who will listen, that when I get on the computer, I cannot think of anything more to say. For example, I had to get maintenance work done on my company vehicle Tuesday morning. The battery was dead. The repair shop sent a lady to jump start my van. She was unable to get it to start, so she left and returned a bit later with a new battery. I helped her install it, and then she advised me that I should follow her to the shop, so testing could be done to be certain that there was nothing wrong with the electrical system. While we waited for the mechanic to run his tests we were chatting. In my coat pocket were two pictures of Magdalena. I had such a strong urge to take them out and show them to her. They were her 6 week old picture and her 7 week old picture.

When I was in Austin last, helping Jennifer with Magda so she could do some work from home, a few instances come to mind that make me smile. One of the mornings, Jennifer had fed Magda and I was holding her. Jennifer went to shower and dress for the day. Jennifer likes her long showers. Magda loves her mama. About 10 minutes after Jennifer went to shower, Magda began “asking” for her. I tried to explain that Jen would be back in a few minutes, but Magda would have none of it. So, we went into the bathroom. Almost as soon as we went into the bathroom, she quieted. I think she liked the warmth and the sound of the water running. I had her up on my shoulder and she started rooting around for something to go into her mouth. She ended up latching on to my cheek. I had Jen check for a hickey when she got out.

On the morning I left, I had packed my car and was saying good-bye to Magda and just delaying the separation. I was talking to her and she was cooing and smiling so hugely, that she almost laughed. She is so precious and brings so much joy to my life.
