Splat

That is a new word in Magda's vocabulary thanks to me, also known as G. It was my pleasure to babysit Magda last Friday while Jen and Step attended Step's office Christmas party. We had a lovely time. It began with a trip to Ben & Jerry's ice cream shoppe. Magda and I shared a bowl of chocolate brownie ice cream. It is amazing how fast she can make that spoon move when it is ice cream it is moving toward. After ice cream we went to Bed, Bath & Beyond so I could buy Christmas for Elizabeth's the next night. I bought a little something for everyone who was supposed to be there. One of the gifts I purchased was a little doll that doubled as a ponytail holder container. Magda carried it around the store the whole time we were there. She knew it was a gift for Ellie, John's granddaughter. Even so, she carried it home and held onto it until she fell asleep in my lap at midnight. At one point during the night, Magda said she was sleepy and wanted to go to bed. She wanted to go to my bed, so to bed we went. She was restless, so I offered to tell her a story. She was still holding onto Ellie's gift. So, I made up a story about the doll. I told many stories that night, all about Ellie's doll. Finally after the fifth or sixth story, and Magda requested another story, I decided it was time to kill off Ellie's doll. So the last story started with the doll playing near the street, a big bus comes by, and "Splat!" I slapped my hand at the same time. At this point I started laughing very hard, as did Magda. I think she was laughing more because I was laughing. All previous stories were very sweet and tame. They should have put Magda to sleep. We went back to the glider rocker in the living room and listened to Christmas music from my iPod. She fell asleep with Ellie's doll in her arms. After I carried Magda to bed, I went back to the living room and gift wrapped the doll. It was the first thing she asked about the next morning. I ended up going back to BB&B and bought one for Magda.
