I know it has been awhile. I think you can track my lack of blogging to home ownership. I feel the huge burden of being an homeowner. I do believe that I am tackling those hurdles one at a time...from the leaking roof, to the small furry creatures...so far I am winning the battle.
Today has been great. I opened a window, that has not been opened since I moved in. With that window and a few others, I have a wonderful feeling of freshness. It is a beautiful day for open windows.
I got at&t uverse installed today. I have already scheduled some of my regular shows on the DVR. The signal is really crisp. I upped my internet connection from 1.5M to 3M. I am looking forward to faster downloads from iTunes. My phone service is VoIP. I have unlimited local and national calling. I have already called Jennifer and Meredith. Life is good.
Life was not so good on Saturday night. I took a 4 hour nap in the afternoon on the couch. I woke up, thinking, I have to take my pill so I can get a good nights sleep. I had not eaten. so I called the delivery Chinese restaurant, whose advertisement was included in my free (please be a subscriber again) Friday's newspaper. I ate, watched a little TV and got up to take the pill. After 30 minutes of watching TV, I decided to go to bed to allow the pill do its work. I watched TV, I read the Readers Digest, I played Backgammon on my Palm...I did not go to sleep. Finally, at 4AM I decided to look for the sleeping pill I thought I had taken. I checked the bathroom and my nightstand. It was not there. So, I was in the process of accepting that this pill had not worked for me, when I glanced toword my dresser. There it seat. It was 4:30AM. If I took it, I would definitely be asleep til 11 or so. So, I did lay back down, turned on the TV and drowsed in and out during a movie with Morgan Freeman "Ten Items Or Less.." Exhausted, I woke up Sunday. I had to get out of the house. I cleaned up, got dressed and went to Central Market. I was still very sleepy, but getting out was a good decision. I have fresh food in my fridge, which is a good thing.
I had the extreme pleasure of making lunch for Jeff today. It was made from my fresh from Central Market foods. I made hamburger soup and mashed potatoes. I had also planned a salad, but the installing of my uverse and issues with TXU prevented the time needed to do so. I cleaned my bedroom. I was in the process of shaking out the dust from my dust cloth when I heard and saw sparking in my neighbor's backyard. The breeze was making the trees shake, which touched the electric lines, which made them spark. Everytime they sparked my lights flickered. I asked my uverse installer; "should I call TXU?" he said an emphatic "yeah"! So I did, which took 30 minutes of trying to get to a live person and actually talking to a live person...he kept referring to my issue as sparkling lines. I think he may have been in India. And everytime he said sparkling...I thought, I like sparkle...I should not be complaining!
Nonetheless, TXU sent out a crew. They shaved several limbs from my neighbors trees, during which I had no electricity. My view has not sparkled since.
