What an interesting and mostly neat experience! I have to admit, however, that I prefer reading about your flight - magnify your fear by 10 and you would have mine. I did go up in a little plane one time but never had strong desires to do it again.

Well, actually, getting into the truck with the stranger gave me an odd sense of dejavu. When I went to Frisco to see Kathleen during the mS150, the hotel gave us a ride to a restaurant. We were walking back and was offered a ride,by an hispanic guy in a pickup truck. We gladly took it. Nothing happened bad happened then either. I would never do something like that solo.

And, you wrote about it beautifully though I am wondering about the lights of Fort Worth glowing all around you; you must have been at very low altitude. I remember a potential plane crash episode in Seinfeld in which all of those secrets and secret emotions were revealed.... Please treat us to more of your wonderful entries!
