Jerry painted the house and

Jerry painted the house and it looks very nice. He spent about $500 on the paint, the new door knobs,a light fixture and locks for our external doors and guttering. He did a professional job and guesses that had he hired it done we would have had to spend about another $2K and would not have been as pleased with the job...I have been working in Graham this past week. It has been very interesting. Graham is a very quaint town. It has erected a very beautiful war memorial to the veterans of Young County. Around the corner from it, on the town square is a memorial to the Confederate Soldiers. When I saw this monument, I realized I had not seen any African Americans since I had been in Graham. My co-worker claims he had seen one. We took a tour of the Bell building when we got there. Telephone buildings have a smell all their own. Upstairs housed an Operators unit a long time ago. Now it is empty and it made me kind of sad. We went into the office where I worked for the 2 years I was in Graham. It still has the same ugly paint on the walls, but all the furniture is gone...Jerry and I are leaving in the morning for Austin. The triathlon is this weekend. I am getting excited and a bit anxious about it. I feel certain that my team, The Barry Scott Memorial Team, will do very well. Courtney assures me she is going to shine and I know that Elizabeth has been working hard too. Go Team!

I don't think I would recognize the smell of a SWB building, but I definitely recognize the look. It's always fascinating to be driving around another city and be able to point out the local telephone company facililites.

Oh, yeah...and I'm looking forward to seeing the fruits of Jerry's labors. I wish you had a digital camera so you could bring pics with you this weekend.

I hope Jerry got a nice tool out of it. That's the way you do this kind of job, get some nice tool that may not even have anything to do with getting the job done. Then you say, well, I had to get this tool, but if we had to pay someone to do it it would have cost umpteen thousand more dollars.
