January 2

I have not lived up to my promise of posts while I have been on vacation. I am grievously sorry for my shortcoming.

When I returned home after the Houston visit, I discovered that the clothing rod in one of the four closets that I store my wardrobe had succombed to the pressure of the weight it was bearing. I did not want to deal with it, so I ignored it. I did a very good job of not worrying about what might be happening to my clothing as they lay crumpled on the floor of the closet. And the shoes! they had to be suffocating under the weight that not even a solid 1.5" wooden rod could not support. And since, I also have clothing hanging on a rack attached to the closet's door, making it impossible to close that door, it was very difficult to ignore the situation. So, for my birthday, on Saturday, December 28, I met Jerry and his brother Kevin at Pappasitos for a late lunch. During that lunch I asked Kevin how difficult it would be to fix the closet and change the very narrow, limited access door to mirrored sliding glass doors. He said it would be relatively simple. So, today, he came and began completing the demolition of my old closet and building my new closet. We went to Home Depot and purchased a Stanley sliding bypass mirrored door. Now, instead of the 2' access to my closet I will have 5'. Tomorrow, we are returning to Home Depot to buy the shelving system. It will be similiar to the Elfa system offered by The Container Store, but not as costly. It is manufactured by Rubber Maid. I tried to find a picture of the closet door or the shelving system to include the link, but was unsuccessful in my search. You will just have to visit me to view the finished product first hand.

A Lovely Meal

Tonight I met my old friend Debra Jensen for dinner at The Olive Garden. We had a very nice time. Debra and I worked together in the business office years ago. We developed a friendship that will last forever. Her sons, Cole and Ryan, refer to me as Aunt Rita. They are gorgeous young men and identical twins. Debra and her boyfriend Alan will be joining me, Jennifer, and Stepan to see Guy Forsyth in Fort Worth on February 8. Debra and Alan were also in attendance at Jennifer's wedding. If you were lucky you got to meet her there.

I don't know Rita sounds like time to donate some clothes. Out with the old in with the new....when do you want to go shopping?? :-)

Deon, you are reading my mind. I have a box of gently used clothing boxed and hope to mail them to Edgar St in Weehawken. Cynthia, I will let you know how it goes after all is done and clothes are replaced in the new closet.

Congrats on the new closet, Mom! I can't wait to see it next time I come to visit. That's great that you've already made so much progress on it...especially since you didn't have any definitive plans for it when we talked about it before Christmas.

I don't care what Stepan says, we are looking forward to seeing Guy Forsythe in February...especially since we know Debra and Alan will be joining us.

I honestly believe that you should probably purchase more lingerie as it weighs less and takes up less.
